The Beginning of the Fall 2011 Semester

Tomorrow is the first official day of the fall semester, and the Alpha Chi's are all ready to begin this school year.  To welcome the freshmen class, we have hung a gorgeous banner encouraging them to go greek.  Recruitment is still a couple weeks away, but we are not wasting any time promoting greek life.

On Thursday the executive board moved into their rooms at 29 Madbury road.  We were allowed to move in early because on Friday from 8 am to 11 am and 11 am to 1 pm, two groups of the exec board helped freshmen move into their dorm rooms.  We all wore our new PACE tee shirts with Alpha Chi Omega on the front and Go Greek on the back.

On Saturday, the rest of those living in the house began to move in.  The house was quite a mess, but it quickly disappeared as everyone began to organize their rooms.  Everyone worked hard to paint during the summer and decorate their rooms when they moved in.

While the rest of those living in house were getting situated, the exec board went to the Memorial Union Building on campus and took part in their exec retreat.  We went over our plans for the entire semester.  It took a lot of time, but the plans for the rest of the semester look great.

Due to Hurricane Irene, the University of New Hampshire curtained operations starting Sunday until Monday.  The house lost power for most of the day Sunday but it returned around 5 o'clock that night.  The following day, the sun was shinning and there were no clouds in the sky.  Many sisters took advantage of the great weather and the cancelation of classes and took a trip to a local beach.

Northeast Executive Board Retreat

Today, the Alpha Tau chapter of Alpha Chi Omega made their way down to MIT for the Northeast Executive Board Retreat.  Other Alpha Chi's in attendance were the chapters from MIT, URI, and UMass.  The event started off with an introduction by Jennifer Crotty and then a talk about expectations.  We also learned more about how to delegate to each of our committees and then a mock chapter meeting was held.  Afterwards, lunch was served and each officer went to a specific breakout session.  Upon returning, a mock CRSB meeting was held along with instructions on how to fill out an event planning pack.  Finally, we learned more about the collegiate Experience Volunteer Team and before we knew it the day was over.

UNH Greek Awards

Today, our past and current exec attended the UNH Greek Awards.  We walked away with the more awards than any other chapter and even some of the sisters won personal awards.  It was a very successful day and it was great for our chapter to get recognition for all the hard work the exec board did last spring and this fall.
